airport

he
He thoroughly enjoyed the hour that we were delayed, waving at planes and the various strange, comical vehicles that scoot around on the tarmac. He explored and made friends. It might not be obvious, but this is him waving. And waving. And waving a little more. If only they'd wave back...

me
The first time I'd flown alone with baby went pretty well. Having a whole row of 3 seats certainly helped! I had spent a bit of time considering what to have in my bag of tricks on the plane - not too much to carry but enough (toys, books, food) to entertain for the duration. The balance was perfect!

burleigh

he
Purely looking forward to the schmick new bathroom doesn't quite provide enough joy to get us through having no bathroom in the interim. So we escaped to a friends' unit at Burleigh for three days, for some op-shopping, picnic-ing, beach-ing and of course a working shower and toilet. The sink had some issues, though...!
He had some great beach play times with his dad and auntie.

me

I took my beloved machine, Fraulein Maria, for company and entertainment, and spent every possible moment creating. Such fun! I even have a website now to display my creations.

school

he
A quick visit to school to pick up some photographs for my work. He was a bit of a super star, with not a hint of concern or discomfort. Pulled out all of his best tricks for the audience, and they responded accordingly!

me
My one-day-per-fortnight of baby-free work days have begun. I arrived at the library promptly on opening and secured the very best study/work sport (ever in the whole world) to begin work on this month's school publication.

just another rainy monday

he
Still loves to show you where his (or your) belly is. He's also reaching approximately 75% accuracy with showing his nose and 40% accuracy with finding his ears. But he can always find the fish.

me

Went to see the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain which was incredibly fun! I was volunteering with my pal for Radio Lollipop who were orchestra's 'tour charity'. This meant free tickets PLUS the opportunity to watch people perform in fancy tuxedos while I was wearing jeans, sneakers and a baggy white t-shirt, while carrying a bright red bucket. And lollipops.

me
A bit of 'reformer pilates' last night with my good pal!

sand

he
Weekend in Caloundra - headed to the beach first thing in the morning for his morning bottle and a play in the sand.

me
Spent a couple of hours in the wonderful Caloundra op shops - alone! And, oh yes, I did find and purchase this "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego" board game.

pan

 he
It feels so good (and I'm not sure just why) when I find him doing a really corny, typical baby/toddler (whatever he is right now) thing. Like pulling saucepans out of the cupboard and banging on them. I just love it. So does he.

me
It's pancake day! Who am I to pass up a legitimate opportunity for a gathering in the back yard? We had pesto pikelets (thanks to a major excess of fresh basil from the garden - and eggs from the chickens) with cheeses and other savoury snacks, followed by  taaa-sty sweet crepes with a killer assortment of toppings provided by our pancake party guests. Who we love. Strawberries, jam, lemon, lime, sugar, passionfruit pulp, caramel sauce, choc/orange spread. Oh my. We went through 4x the above recipe.

playing

he
He's really enjoying playgrounds! He crawls, climbs, conducts safety inspections, eats bark chips, gnaws on metal posts, and is ecstatic when he gets to watch and interact with the 'big' kids. This is at a gorgeously colourful park in Paddington, which provided respite along the steep, steamy walk to our friends' place yesterday afternoon. This morning we found another awesome and interesting park at Tennyson, the cleverly chosen location for his buddy's birthday party. I envisage many play dates here...

me
My high school mate and I made ukelele our new years' resolution. Today was our big debut: A 1.5 hour beginners' workshop where 60 strangers of all ages played and sang and smiled and chuckled for an hour and a half (i.e. it was exactly my ideal Saturday morning!). Plus I bought red furry heart-shaped uke picks.
